Benefits Of Using AC Over DC

    In ships AC is preferred then DC because of the following reasons,

>Smaller, lighter and compact machine size, for a given kW. 
>High power and high voltage AC generator can be easily manufactured.
>Voltage can be raised or lowered by transformer
>AC can be easily converted to DC.
