Weekly Checks and Maintenance of Lifeboat
> The engine should be tried out weekly.
> Propulsion has to be checked on both fwd and astern side.
> Battery checks by an electrical officer and it should be changed every 2 year.
> Mechanical linkage and electrical equipment of launching gear are checked including lubrication.
> Cleaning of limit switch of davit.
> According to SOLAS weekly the life boat will be lowered upto embarkation ladder and all davit mechanisms are inspected and checked.
> Winch type hand operated brakes will go static and dynamic test.
> Lifeboat should be launched once in 3 month and go for round in order to ensure proper
functioning of a lifeboat.
